PLANNER DESIGN & LAYOUT

This 189 paged planner is spiral bound and housed within cardstock paper. This planner was created by a homeschooling mom and can be used with up to five children. The front cover features a soft, abstract floral painting on the front along with the title and a unique features list. The back cover includes a short personal note to the customer and reviews from other homeschool moms. Inside the front cover and throughout the planner are various devotionals written by Gena Suarez. There are four pages dedicated to creating and understanding the importance of an Academic Transcript. Next, you’ll find calendars for 2019, 2020, and 2021 followed by two-page calendars for the upcoming academic year. These monthly calendars begin in July 2019 and end in June 2020.

From there you’ll continue to the weekly lesson planning section. Each week includes six columns giving you options to schedule by subject and child. The writing boxes are extremely roomy, offering plenty of space to write assignments. In the back of the planner are personal record keeping pages for each child in your household. These pages include a yearly curriculum and book list, attendance, and goal sheets. Yearly, first semester and second-semester goal sheets are provided for each child. There is space dedicated to setting educational, spiritual, physical, personal talents, life skills, financial, and relational goals.

PROS, CONS, & FINAL THOUGHTS
I truly enjoyed the devotionals placed throughout the planner. I like the variety of topics covered and how she didn’t stray from hard things like rebellion and finding joy during tough times. I would have loved to see a devotional posted at the beginning of each week. I think they would have been perfectly placed right after the monthly calendars with a notes page next to it. The Academic Transcript pages are phenomenal! The detail that went into the information page is perfectly portrayed and so helpful.

My only con is the overall layout of this planner. It is organized in a unique style that I have not seen before. I think the monthly calendars should be next to the weekly calendars. I would have loved to see more devotionals, placed as suggested above. Then, the weekly calendars could easily have begun on the subsequent page. This would keep flipping to a minimum since the pages would be closer. I also suggest adding tabs for each section of the planner.

Aside from the devotionals, my favorite part in this planner is the individual student sections. I appreciate space to write detailed records for my children. More importantly, I am fond of the goal setting pages. These are great for every age and allows an opportunity for one on one time with each of your children. I’m looking forward to the precious memories made while having these conversations.
