Wife Talk: The 3 You Need!

I was asked to share some tips for a group discussion and thought these would be great to post on my blog as well.

  1. Start your day in prayer and read the Bible. This is the most important thing to do and it will set the tone for the rest of your day. You don’t know if upcoming events include trials, tribulations, joy, tears, victory, or a sick child but God does. Whether you have 5, 10, or 15+ minutes be sure to spend time with Him. I’m about to finish The Great Omission by Dallas Willard and I’m also participating in a daily Bible Reading Challenge. Reading devotionals, participating in a book club, or working through a YouVersion plan are other ways to ensure you spend time reading the Bible daily.
  2. Budgets, Schedules or To-do lists, and weekly dinner menus are your friends. Budgets are an aid to every person with or without money. To-do lists help the busy mom with keeping track of appointments, play dates, meetings, etc. You can even create a cleaning and laundry schedule if you need to. Definitely, have your dinner menu created for the week. This helps with grocery lists and allows for preparation in advance. If chicken breasts are served on Sunday those leftovers can easily be turned into Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta on Wednesday. I even schedule a leftover night.
  3. Make time for yourself. Some people view this as being a bit selfish but I don’t. Time for you can range from a hot bath/shower or spinning/Zumba class at the gym, to a massage, mani/pedi, or retail therapy. I have a monthly girls-only evening and plan a different activity each time. We’ve gone jewelry shopping at Sam Moon, enjoyed movies, and participated in a murder mystery dinner to name a few. All financial responsibilities from these events are always include in the aforementioned budget.

These are just a few tips to help us moms conquer motherhood. Don’t hesitate to share your secrets in the comments below.

Make this week great,

Ta’Neisha
