#TUKWLjourney: DIY Weight loss & Fitness Progress Tracker/Journal

Today I’m sharing how I’m using the Papillion Big Undated Happy Planner to track my weight loss, fitness, and health progress for 2022. Tracking my progress has been wonderful during my #TUKWLjourney and helped me have a detailed timeline of my accomplishments.

Want a closer look? Watch this video!

I have been looking for a new weight loss journal for a few months. I was actually about to create my own until I spotted the Papillion on the Happy Planner website. I found this planner at Joann for 50% off but you can also purchase it via the Happy Planner website. This undated planner includes 4 months of daily pages and monthly layouts. No stickers were included for the month or days, but for the price, they should be included. This planner also includes gold metal discs and a beautiful butterfly-themed cover.

Now that it is all set up, I am happy to continue tracking my progress for 2022. If you missed any of my #TUKvsg, #TUKWLjourney, or #TUKWLvictory posts you can catch up via this playlist.

COMMEMT BELOW: How do you use your Happy Planner?

Interactive K-5 Math Skills Website (I Know It)

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Today’s review features a detailed look at the interactive math practice program called I Know It. This program is available online via a subscription and does offer a free trial.

I Know It is a comprehensive and interactive math website with over 600 math lessons for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. This online program is designed to be used as part of your lesson or as independent practice. The activities can also be used to supplement your current math curriculum, tutor your children, or provide comprehension assessments. This online resource can also be used as homework or an afternoon enrichment activity. All activities allow students to work at their own pace and concept skills level until they are ready to move forward. This program is aligned with Common Core education standards.

I used the 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade programs as a supplement to our current homeschool math curriculum. The website’s parental controls allow you to differentiate assignments for your children. You can also customize the program to meet the specific needs of each child. For example Bam Bam was able to complete some concepts at 2nd Grade level and others at 3rd Grade level. The website also allows you to monitor progress, adjust attempts at questions, and track performance data. Math concepts vary by grade level and provide a wide variety of questions to practice and subsequently perfect each one.

First Grade lessons include:

  • Counting
  • Number Patterns
  • Place Values
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Fractions
  • Time
  • Money
  • Canadian Money
  • Geometry
  • Shapes
  • Graphing
  • Measurement
  • Word Problems

Third Grade lessons include:

  • Place Values
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Basic Multiplication
  • Basic Division
  • Multiplication and Division Mixed
  • Multi-digit Multiplication
  • Fractions
  • Time
  • Money
  • Word Problems
  • Standard Measurement
  • Metric Measurement
  • Geometry
  • Decimals
  • Graphing

Overall, my Cool Kids enjoyed using I Know It four times a week to practice math. As they worked through the program I believe it enhanced their math comprehension and concept fluency. They enjoyed the variety of unique characters and animations. I appreciated the parent’s features and the options like providing students with question hints and explanations. I also found the website organized with a user-friendly interface for all ages.

Spouse Appreciate: Acknowledge the Power of Manhood

Recently, I was a part of a youth sports debacle unlike I’ve never seen before. During that time, I watched confused children covering their ears while angry parents hurled insults and obscenities. You could literally see the negativity bounce from person to person. It was truly discouraging and tragic to see adults so angry of over a child’s football game.

My husband and oldest son were absent that day but I was present during this event. Amid this chaos, I was doing my best to calm angry adults while enduring the vile words and accusations from both sides. The entire time, I kept thinking how none of this would have happened if my husband was here. I was reminded of the safety, security, and peace I feel when my husband is around.

For details on this event and encouragement, WATCH THIS!

My husband’s presence makes me feel loved, cared for, comforted, powerful, safe, and secure. Though the events of this day were frustrating, I’m thankful for the reminder that my husband is a blessing from God. So, please make time to show your husband love and pour appreciation over him in his love language.

Family Advent Traditions with The Giving Manger (GIVEAWAY CLOSED)

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Today’s review features a detailed look at The Giving Manger by WorthyKids. This set was created as a Christmas tradition to encourage the importance of giving and the power of CHRIST in CHRISTmas.

WANT A CLOSER LOOK? WATCH THIS VIDEO!

The Giving Manger is a beautifully boxed set that includes items to create precious holiday memories.
Box Set Includes:

  • The Giving Manger Picture Book: an easy-to-read, family-led story that explains the tradition.
  • Wooden Manger: comes in three pieces and should be placed in a visible spot to be filled with the straw.
  • Bundle of Straw: several pieces of straw to place in the manger after each act of service.
  • Baby Jesus: ceramic, and will be placed in the manger on Christmas day.

This boxed set includes wonderful items that we enjoyed so much, we decided to host a GIVEAWAY! **GIVEAWAY CLOSED and winner announced in photo below**

Our favorite features about these products are the creative, paper illustrations throughout the story. The story text gives relatable details for parents and children as the father decides to change his family’s view on Christmas. After much thought, the focus shifts from expecting gifts to offering services to family, friends, and neighbors. At first, the children are a bit frustrated and let down by the sudden change. As expected they take their time trying to adjust their focus but eventually, the acts of service become enjoyable.

Soon, the whole family finds joy in servanthood and helping each other. As your family reads the story and begins to offer acts of kindness you can watch their hearts turn too. By completing simple acts of kindness like folding laundry, completing chores without being asked, and helping someone cross the street the manger will be filled with hay to welcome the baby on Christmas day. Every item within The Giving Manger box set is quality made and will last for many years. This tradition can be shared with your children, grandchildren, and beyond.

WorthyKids is known by many for its quality, faith-based content for families and children. They’ve continued to create amazing books studies, games, and resources that encourage Christians to actively live out their faith. The Giving Manger is another grand addition to the content offered by this company. Now, during the holiday season, your family’s focus can shift from a pleasure-seeking list to Christ pleasing heart.

**WATCH THIS VIDEO** for a tour of the courses offered!

We received 12 months of access to one of the Self-Paced Online Classes which allows access for one family. Bear chose the Exercise & Sports Physiology course which included seven online, pre-recorded video lessons and a PDF book that can be printed. Each video lesson is approximately 23 to 45 minutes and can be taken as fast or as slow as your child needs. Homework is provided after each lesson; however, it is not required and is at the parent’s discretion to assign and check. Greg also offers suggestions for testing students and issuing grades. If questions arise, you can access Professor Landry via email. We had a brief login issue and he responded within an hour of our email.

Exercise & Sports Physiology covers:

  • Sports performance
  • Physiology of training
  • Ergogenic aids
  • VO2 max
  • Heart rate and exercise
  • Anaerobic threshold
  • Altitude training
  • Blood doping
  • Muscle physiology
  • Hypertrophy

Other Self-paced 7th-12th classes:

  • Biochemistry & Microbiology

So far, Bear has enjoyed taking Exercise & Sports Physiology by Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science. We both enjoy the ease of adding this course to our homeschool routine. The class about the importance of taking quality notes was key to understanding collegiate style teaching. Bear also completed the lessons each week and did do the suggested homework. Bear has already decided which one of the Self-paced 7th-12th grade Half-Semester Classes he’ll be taking next.

BOTW: The Lines Between Us by Amy Lynn Green

The Lines Between Us by Amy Lynn Green takes the reader back to WWII as we follow Gordon Cooper and his best friend, Jack Armitage. Rather than enlisting, both men hold their position as conscientious objectors then volunteer as smokejumpers to extinguish wildfires in Oregon. We also watch the story of Jack’s sister, Dorie Armitage unfold as she joins the Women’s Army Corp and becomes a mechanic. After her brother is injured in a mysterious wildfire, she partners with Gordon to find out what REALLY HAPPENED to Jack.

  • Why did Jack not sound the alarm for the fire?
  • Why did he avoid protocol while stationed at the lookout tower?
  • Why would Jack run into the fire without assistance?
  • Why won’t the District Ranger share details about the fire?

Amy Lynn Green created an exciting narrative that keeps you guessing as Dorie and Gordon work together to discover what happened to Jack. The story twists keep readers engaged and every uncovered truth compels you to decide if principles are worth the price of freedom. You can find The Lines Between Us in-store or online wherever books are sold. Thank you Bethany House Fiction for the opportunity to read this book.

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Roar Like a Lion: 90 Devotions to a Courageous Faith encourages your kids to face their fears with the confidence that God is with them. This book was written by Levi Lusko along with Tama Fortner and published by Tommy Nelson Books.

Roar Like a Lion: 90 Devotions to a Courageous Faith provides a fun and unique way for families to have faith-filled discussions at home. This hardcover book is 192 pages and houses lessons to encourage your young children to courageously share their faith. Through the devotionals, your family will discuss ways to use your ROAR to let others know you believe in God, share how wonderful He is, and learn tools to resist the tactics of the enemy. The words encourage the readers that God can conquer the enemy and he will flee.

Ready to look inside? Watch this video!

There are 90 devotionals within this book and each is approximately 2 pages. Every lesson includes vivid, colorful, and eye-catching illustrations created by Catherine Pearson. Along with the astonishing art, you’ll also note the easy-to-use layout featuring fun facts, Bible verses, prayers, and action steps to use in tough times. All these combined help children keep their hearts set on God’s faithfulness.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Courage
  • Trying something new
  • Facing fears
  • School
  • Friendships
  • Handling new challenges
  • Overcoming disappointments
  • Peer pressure
  • Bullying
  • Purpose

  • Faith

Another awesome feature is that the author, Pastor Levi Lusko offers a FREE DOWNLOAD of the Parent Discussion Guide for the book. This guide helps parents feel confident and offers tips for sharing their faith with their children. Learn more about how you can share heaven, hope, understand loss, and the power of the Christian faith in a way that children of any age can understand. This guide was created to accompany the Roar Like a Lion book and create additional moments of family discussion.

We have been enjoying the Roar Like a Lion: 90 Devotions to a Courageous Faith book for a few weeks. The quality of the book and content is great for family time or a children’s Sunday School class. Overall, I felt that Pastor Levi Lusko did a good job creating devotions for young elementary children to enjoy with their families. He included some tough topics but kept them age-appropriate for children via the lighthearted and approachable tone. Together, both authors and the illustrator created great discussion opportunities about real-life situations. I suggest using compassion, grace, and answering questions with biblical authenticity while using this with your children. After reading through the entiredevotional myself, I recommend this book for families with children ages 6 to 9 years old. Tommy Nelson Books presented another awesome tool to spark meaningful conversations with your children while teaching them the importance of daily scripture study.
