Ms. Frizzle Teaches Homeschool Too!

Happy Sunday! This year Team KEMP Academy was excited to have Ms. Frizzle visit and teach our science class weekly via the Magic School Bus Science Club. Now, if you grew up watching The Magic School Bus like I did then you know that whenever Ms. Frizzle is around, an adventure is about to take place.  These kits were such a great addition to our homeschool and made teaching science concepts easy and fun. 

Oftentimes, I hear homeschool parents say that science is something that they are intimidated by.  I definitely understand because I’ve felt that way myself and always wonder if I’m truly giving my son the Science education that he deserves.  However, God has reassured my confidence with confirmation through friends, teachers, family, and even strangers that we are on the right track in every subject offered in our homeschool.  I’m so grateful for several friends, who are educators or administrators, that I can bounce ideas off of and who offer us resources to ensure that we are giving our son a quality education at home.  Since we are surrounded by so much support I found confidence to conquer the subjects I initially deemed myself inexperienced or unable to teach.  I no longer allow myself to be bound by “stinking thinking” and consider myself smart, brave, and strong enough to educate our children in all subjects, including Science!

One of the things I wanted to introduce this year was weekly science experiments but I wasn’t sure if we would be able to afford all the supplies.  After looking at several options I stumbled upon the Magic School Bus Science Club and was happy to snag it for a great price.  Since the kits come with everything you need there was no additional cost to our household budget.  We enjoyed using these kits on Fridays and were able to take the provided lessons and spread the experiments out over a month.  We also watched The Magic School Bus episodes that coincided with the current kit.  Bear had a blast with Ms. Frizzle!

So dear homeschool parents, you too can teach every subject required (by your local laws) and desired (by your wonderful students) with confidence, ease, and excitement.  Just be sure to pick resources and curriculum that will help you feel comfortable while educating your students. Remember, if you don’t enjoy teaching it they will not enjoy learning it.
