Channie’s Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks

Bam Bam was so excited to accept his first solo review item from Channie’s Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks.  Prior to receiving this item, we both looked through the website and he chose the My First Letters consumable workbook that is geared towards Pre-K to 1st graders.  Since our precocious, left-handed three year old requested to start writing sentences; we thought this workbook would be perfect for introducing him to the concepts of writing the letter of the week. We also wanted to try this because he had just finished a previous workbook practicing various lines and shapes.

Upon arrival, Bam Bam was so excited that he immediately began flipping through the pages and showed his brother and sister all the letters he was going to write.  We decided to use this book three times a week, focusing on the capital letter on Monday, the lower case letter on Wednesday, and finally a line from each on Friday.  To help him write I decided to go with a larger mechanical pencil that used a thicker lead so breakage would be minimal.  Over time, Bam Bam’s confidence increased with each pencil stroke and I was so proud of him.

“Writing time is good.  I like the letters. My favorite letter is T. I like F for football.” Bam Bam, 3 years old

The great thing about this workbook is that it is completely consumable! Each perforated page rips perfectly from the book binding without messing up the other pages and even Bam Bam could remove the pages for the week like a professional.  I also liked the thickness and quality of the paper because each page has work on both sides.  We never had an issue with paper being ripped because of writing too hard and these pages even survived the occasional tug of war with the little sister.  The wide lines (double spaced) were perfect for teaching our little lefty how to write each letter and he could easily see his work once he was done with the assignment.  Finally, I loved how these workbooks include tracing, writing, and coloring for each letter which made it easy to create fun activities to coordinate with every page.

Channie’s Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks did an awesome job creating the My First Letters workbook and our son truly enjoyed using it.  I look forward to trying the other items currently available from the company.  You can find these workbooks online as well as in a few retailers near you.  These books work great in our homeschool but I think they would also be a good fit for early elementary teachers, preschools and daycares, or mom’s day out programs.
