Math-U-See AIM for Multiplication (Review & Unboxing)

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

Today’s review features a detailed look at the Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM) for Multiplication with a Bridge to Division program. This is the latest product in the successful AIM series by Math-U-See.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM) program was created to increase your child’s proficiency in basic multiplication math facts. This multiplication program helps students who have begun multiplication coursework but need assistance with fluency or mastery of advanced concepts. In our box, we received the resource guide, Math-U-See Integer Blocks, Colored Pencils, Math Fact Strategy Posters, and Fact Check Cards. A code to redeem 12-months access to the online courses was also included.

WATCH OUR UNBOXING VIDEO!

AIM Resource Guide provides a program overview, lessons, and details on how to use the manipulatives with each one. Detailed instructions on the collaborative work between you and your child as well as times to take a break are also included.

Math-U-See Integer Blocks are used in the lessons to illustrate the strategies.

Math Fact Strategy Posters include illustrations of the multiplication strategies. Each poster is labeled with the lesson it corresponds with. One poster is rather large while the others are approximately 8×11.

Fact Check Cards are also used in most AIM lessons for assessment, review, and planning instruction. Each card can easily be removed from perforated cardstock. I think laminating these would be best for long-term use. There is not a small storage bag or box provided for these so I placed them in a Ziploc bag.

Digital Pack provides 12 months of access to online lesson videos, solutions, instructions, and other downloadable resources. The AIM for Multiplication videos were created to provide instruction for all the lessons in the resource book. Internet access and a capable device are required to utilize the components within the Digital Pack.

OUR ROUTINE & FINAL THOUGHTS
I was excited to use this to continue Bam Bam’s introduction to multiplication. I thought this product would be a slow, easy transition to higher-level math. We worked through one lesson, a few times each week. I found that continued practice with the provided manipulatives and visuals allows multiplication and eventually division facts to be stored in long-term memory for quick retrieval.

Over the review period, I found that Bam Bam became more confident as he built number sense and learned new strategies. I also noted that towards the end of the program there are things in place to encourage fading from the use of manipulatives. Division is also introduced towards the end as well. Combining the famous Math-U-See strategies, distinctive manipulatives, fundamental lessons, and your care ensures confidence to successfully complete the Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM) for Multiplication with a Bridge to Division program.
