OUR ROUTINE & FINAL THOUGHTS
Upon receipt, I looked through the entire book to see how the format would fit into our homeschool schedule. We worked through this book with our middle schooler twice a week during the review period. Initially, we went through one chapter each session but I eventually allowed Bear to move forward at his own pace. Each session took approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and included reading, answering review questions, and writing out vocabulary. Once he felt comfortable, he also began to write out his own programs. Bear has even used Scratch as well as other programs and websites suggested by our local library to practice coding.
We have enjoyed working through Everything You Need to Ace Computer Science and Coding in One Big Fat Notebook. The graphics are my favorite component because each one clearly displays the example programs and steps for success. The overall layout of the book is another awesome feature because it was easy to find vocabulary words, definitions, and even review question answers. Bear appreciated the step by step guides and felt this book has helped him further understand computer science and coding. We think Workman Publishing created a great book that will be a good addition to your homeschool library can be used as a reference for years to come. Bear recommends this book for children ages 12 and up.
