This passage of scripture reminds me of the importance of scripture memory for all Christians. As a family, we are using a product from Scripture Memory Fellowship to help us accomplish our goal. We received the 14:6 – The Way course which includes 84 verses about salvation. The product includes a physical flip book and can be purchased in KJV, ESV, or the NKJV translation. This course is designed for ages 7 and older to memorize approximately three verses every week.
The 14:6 scripture memory series provides opportunities for consistent practice in learning God’s word, applying it to our daily lives, and sharing it with others. This series was designed from John 14:6: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” so each volume focuses on a different aspect of a biblical worldview. 14:6 – The Way covers 84 verses on salvation divided into 7, 4-lesson units. The lessons begin with a title and special icon detailing the doctrine covered that week. There are options to memorize 1-3 verses and each is color coordinated. Next, a thesis statement summarizes the doctrine contained in the verses. Finally, you practice by reciting them often and eventually via memory to someone else. The goal is to recite the scripture from memory without help.
We decided to use this course as a family to learn one scripture a week. We found the design to be simple and like that this is a spiral notebook rather than flashcards. Storing this between uses and passing between one another was easy. The colors used throughout were eye-catching, especially for our younger children. The icons also helped jog our memory when reciting to each other. Overall, we enjoyed using 14:6 – The Way by Scripture Memory Fellowship in our family bible study time. We found their creative use of tools helped streamline the memorization process that helped us study and apply God’s Word.
