One More Story is accessible online or via the iOS app. After your initial app login, the information is stored and your children can access the program immediately. Directions for use are repeated once the program begins which helps remind children how to access the books and use the features. Once a book is chosen, your child can decide to read the story themselves or have the book read aloud.
While the book is read aloud, words are highlighted during the narration, helping pre-readers learn more about language. If your child is an emergent reader, using this program can help them grow into independent readers. The My Word List feature allows your child to study news words, sound them out, and confirm their study when hearing the word and definitions read aloud. When they’ve mastered a word, it can be moved to the Learned Words List. These stories also include original music by Robby Merkin, the former music director of Sesame Street. The books also provide narration from over 30 professional actors, creating a memorable reading impression.
The library includes books by:
- Ezra Jack Keats
- Taro Yashima’s
- Allen Say
- Jannell Cannon
- William Steig
- Donald Crews
- Mary Ann Hoberman
- Cynthia Rylant
- Amy Hest
- Martin Waddell
- Grace Lin
OUR ROUTINE & FINAL THOUGHTS
We have used the One More Story daily since our first login nearly two months ago. My younger cool kids instantly took to the app and its user-friendly interface. I appreciate the vocabulary list that includes definitions and example sentences. This allows me to add some language arts to our daily storytime. I was amazed that the app kept my kindergartner’s attention for over 15 minutes. She was truly happy to have an app with all of her favorite books in one place. Bam Bam was excited to use this app while he worked in his journal. We have already shared the One More Story app with our friends and recommend it to all families with young children.
