#Random Over the past few months I’ve given away 35 lbs of makeup and 17 lbs of nail polish. My polish collection was cut down tremendously but my makeup collection doesn’t look like it has been touched. ๐ However, after Christmas I’ve set a goal to be back down to one drawer stand instead of 2. Either way, Kevin is surprised because I passed it on WITHOUT replenishing, which has NEVER happened in our 9 years and 363 days of marriage. Like, NEVER, ever, ever!
This massive declutter came about after realizing that I wasn’t enjoying makeup anymore. I only do a full face on the weekends so for 2 days a week, I don’t need all of that stuff. I also decided that I wasn’t going to buy anymore unless it was a necessity. I had a horrible habit of overbuying what I like and I needed to be set free. Self-control, come through ASAP!!!
Said all that to say, never underestimate the power of the purge. This year I went into EXTREME mode with the household declutter but, I’m so glad I did it. Only a few more things to sort through and I will be done. The energy (don’t let the word scare you, I’m still saved) in our house feels so much better! I feel so much better and not obligated to consume every new thing that comes on the market. Again, I have self-control!
This month my feature on the Homeschooling With Heart blog speaks on our homeschool purge and I hope it also encourages you. You can also read more about my household declutter process via this previous blog post.
So, let me slide this “no buy” in as an early anniversary gift for my husband. So, I WILL NOT PURCHASE another beauty product until I RUN COMPLETELY OUT of what I currently have. I plan on going forth with this no buy from November 1, 2017 until June 2018. During this time, my goal is to REMOVE THE EXCESS so I can effectively and efficiently use what I already have.
I implore every reader to declutter before the end of the year. Go through your life and declutter toxic or unnecessary relationships, bad habits, and negative thoughts while you conquer the closets. Allow God to guide you through a true cleaning session and I promise you will not regret it. Remember, your home is a living space, not a storage space.
Make this week grand,

I love this post. This is exactly where I am right now. I believe God is doing a new thing in me. I realized exactly how much I have been over spending. We recently moved and it was a wake-up call. I had no idea we had that much stuff. I really need to purge our homeschool. I have too much of everything. For some reason it has been so difficult to let the curriculum and school items we donโt need go. I really need to simplify. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you were encouraged! You will feel so much better once you let go and pay it forward. If the item held precious memories, take a picture and save that. Plus, think of all the families you can help. Pray, and God will lead you to the person or people to bless with those items. Have a garage sale and use the money towards a family trip. Either way, you’re adding new lessons to your homeschool by showing your children how to declutter, organize, listen as God leads, help others, donate, economics via the garage sale, etc. You know homeschoolers will make a lesson out of anything ๐ Have a great week!
