Why I Love God Greatly

I just finished participating in the You Are Forgiven online Bible study hosted by Love God Greatly.  First let me say that this study has been so amazing!  I love reading the wisdom from the women in my group and feel so encouraged when they respond to my posts.  I was introduced to Love God Greatly (LGG) via my friend Glenda and after that initial study, I make it a goal to participate in at least two a year.  If you haven’t participated in an LGG study, then you are definitely missing out.

If you aren’t familiar with LGG, they are an online women’s bible study group that shares weekly blogs, YouTube videos, and in-depth bible studies via their website and social networks.  Each study ranges from four to eight weeks so committing to one and seeing it through requires discipline, but the end result is more than worth it.  The best part about these studies is that they offer the materials to you for FREE, yes you read correctly, FOR FREE!!  Their bible studies are also available for downloads in various languages including Spanish, Afrikaans, and Czech.  Another great option they’ve added recently is having the materials bound into a journal which can be purchased via Amazon.  I love this new option because often printing out the material and organizing a journal is so time consuming that it helps to have it already done for you.

During your study time you are assigned passages of scripture to read and one section to journal about.  They call their journal process the S.O.A.P. method which stand for scripture, observation, application, and prayer.  First you write out the scripture, then you take note of any observations that pop out at you immediately or are noticeable after some thought.  Next, you write out how this scripture applies to your daily life or the walk of a believer.  Finally, you write out a prayer about the study topic, the scripture you just studied, or whatever God has placed on your heart.

Here is an example of three SOAPs I penned during this eight week study:

Scripture:

It was only yesterday that you outsiders to God’s ways had no idea of any of this, didn’t know the first thing about the way God works, hadn’t the faintest idea of Christ. You knew nothing of that rich history of God’s covenants and promises in Israel, hadn’t a clue about what God was doing in the world at large.  Ephesians 2:12 The Message Bible

Observations:

Life without Christ alienates us from God. Without a relationship through Christ, all promises of God are null and void.

Application:

If our actions don’t show the Light of Christ in every area then is God truly our Father? This is another reminder that dying daily to flesh necessary along with studying and applying the word of God so you never have to live life without him again.

Prayer:

Lord you are awesome! You saved me from a lonely life without true family, rich history, and a holy lineage. Because of Christ I am brand new! I have a body of believers that are family and we won’t stop telling everyone about you until the end of the Earth. Help me live holy through your guidance, truth, and word so we are never strangers again. Amen

Scripture:

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.  1 John 5:4 ESV

Observations:

Our faith gives us victory!  We are overcomers!

Application:

My faith gives me victory.  My FAITH gives me VICTORY!  MY FAITH GIVES ME VICTORY!!

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes life happens and it seems like we won’t make it through but God is able to heal deliver and set free, and make whole.  God, thank you for fueling mu faith through every frustration in life.  I am VICTORIOUS in all things because I am yours. Amen.

Scripture:

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 The Message Bible

Observations:

1) Go

2) Teach ALL nations

3) Baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

4) Teach them to observe ALL THINGS commanded by God

5) Jesus is ALWAYS with us

Application:

We have been given perfect instructions to recruit and train more soldiers for God. Christ is with us via the Holy Spirit that counsels us daily. God has equipped us to succeed at his requirements, we just need to be bold enough to follow the general’s command. Lastly, ALL means ALL, so let’s remember to include every person on our list of those we should share the gospel with.

Prayer:

God, thank you for the spiritual equipment needed to be a successful soldier.  Forgive us when we doubt your power working in us and use our sins as an excuse for unworthiness.  We are what you say we are and we can do ALL that you say we can.  We will go boldly to complete the call.  No more coward soldiers, in the name of Jesus, Amen!

I know this was a lot to read but I couldn’t let this study end without sharing it and the LGG website with you all.  Make time to truly study, breakdown, and rightly divide the word of God.  I promise you the time taken to memorize and apply scripture will help you become a stronger believer and help you teach others.  Be sure to check out this video for additional encouragement in your faith walk.

Make this week wonderful,

~Ta’Neisha K.
