Big thank you to Influenster for sharing the Spring Fling Vox Box with me. I was so excited to try these products and here are my three favorites from the box.

First I enjoyed the SoftLips cube I received because the packaging is so cute and convenient. I also love the pomegranate blueberry scent and how soft the product applies. Next, I loved the Rimmel London Retro Glam mascara because the formula doesn’t clump and makes my lashes look extraordinary. Last, but certainly not least, I enjoy creaminess of the Nivea Skin Firming Hydration Lotion and how great it makes my skin feel.

Being an Influenster definitely has great perks. If you’re interested in joining the network so you can score some FREE products then message me your email address. Upon receipt I will send you an invitation to join immediately.

My “go to” Spring & Summer Makeup Looks

The southern heat is no joke but that doesn’t mean that I can’t leave my house with a flawless face. Granted, it may sweat off in an hour but when my feet exit my humble abode “Baby, I look good!” Since these looks are light they don’t take long to initially create or touch up if needed.

First up, is my powder foundation routine. For this look I use a cream to powder foundation as concealer and apply a natural colored face powder to my entire face. Using a bit of elf makeup mist and set on your powder brush will make the powder application process smooth and quick.

Next, I occasionally wear colorful eyeshadow looks with nude lips. These are great to wear to family functions, picnics, parties, and especially on nights out with my friends. For these looks I use my BH Cosmetics 88 tropical or Lorac GLOgetter palettes. Colorful eyeshadow looks best with solid color clothing because your pop of color, or creative accessory, is your eyes.

Finally, I enjoy wearing a simple look that I call “liner, lashes, and lips”. I love this look because it can be quickly applied before an errand run to brighten your face. I also transform this into a sultry look for date nights with my husband by smudging the eyeliner, adding a half strip lash, and wearing lip gloss.

Liner, lashes, & lips

Either of these three makeup routines will keep you gorgeous and glowing throughout the Spring and Summer seasons. But remember to apply SPF to your face prior to makeup application. Protect your skin but don’t be afraid to step out and enjoy the warm weather with or without makeup.

Trust Through Transitions

I didn’t think I would continue to push myself any further after stepping out of my Comfort Zone for last month’s growth challenge but…

Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psalms 37:4, 5 KJV)

These are two of my favorite scriptures in the Bible not because of the promise for eventually getting what you desire, like most people think. I love these two verses because that reminder, perfectly placed between the semicolon sandwich, is not a mistake. I know that as you mature in faith you understand that life goes through seasons but you must continue to trust him WHILE you remain obedient and you will see EVERY PROMISE FULFILLED.

Now hearing that should be enough to start a “praise party” but I’m over here nervous for what is coming up for my family. Not because danger is lurking or we are doing anything wrong but because those things promised to Kevin & I when we first wed, and even recently, are happening now and things are moving so fast. We have been going through so many transitions since the surprise arrival of kdk2 that sometimes I’m nervous to take the next step. Truth be told failure isn’t even what has me nervous it is the promise of success that has me trembling.

What has God ever done wrong that would require me to second guess his guided next step? If you said “nothing” then you’re absolutely right. I know God wouldn’t push us forward if we weren’t ready. I know I’m covered and I truly trust my husband to follow God so there is no need to be nervous or fearful throughout these transitions. I also don’t want any desire or promise unfulfilled because I failed to be obedient. I’ve already stepped outside of my comfort zone so I may as well continue to go forward in faith not fear.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7 AMP)

This is another one of my favorite scriptures and the first scripture I taught my oldest son when he was two years old. He actually includes this while he does his part in our daily family prayer time. Right before writing this blog I had to go back and ask God to forgive me for being fearful and not fully trusting him through these transitions. I also thanked him for a renewed sound mind. I refuse to miss out on anything because of doubt or fear.

God is faithful. He truly does ALL THINGS well. His plan is perfect and though he doesn’t need me, I’m glad he decided to use me. I trust him. I will remain obedient so He can trust me.

What season are you in? How are you handling your current transition? Are you truly trusting God to guide you?

Make this week magnificent,

Our Family Favorites

If your family is cool like mine is, you must enjoy the most random, yet truly awesome things. Here are a few of our family favorites. FYI: kdk is our 6 year old son, kdk2 is our 5 month old son, and KDK is Kevin, my awesome husband and boyfriend on the side all in one.

So, our oldest had a hard time narrowing down his current favorites but here is what made the final cut in his own words.

“My favorite thing about my toys is because I can play anything that I want. I have lots of toys and I can play lots of games. I like dinosaurs because there are so many cool things about them that people don’t even know. They can be omnivores, carnivores, or herbivores, and some were really tiny and some are medium sized or really really really big. I like learning about lions. I like wrestling because when they fight you see which one is stronger and which one is weaker.” kdk <– my favorite first born son

Of course kdk2 can’t talk just yet but I think his favorite thing is mommy because I breastfeed him. LOL Well food might actually be his favorite thing but since I make and serve his meals I must be his favorite thing. We’ve been occasionally introducing him to some mashed food which he enjoys. And I can’t help but hear my grandmother, may she rest in peace, telling me to give him bean juice, pot liquor from greens, and a chicken leg bone. Ha! Old school baby food is still the best. Laughing and rolling over are the things we are enjoying most about him right now. He is truly a happy baby just like his brother was. And you know kdk2 is my favorite second born son.

I’m enjoying my recumbent exercise bike which has helped me lose almost 100 pounds. I’m also enjoying drinking water. Crazy favorite, I know but I really didn’t like water prior to having our second child. Now I can’t get enough of it. I’m sure the breastfeeding has aided my desire for it. My new favorite drink, Mint Lemonade, comes courtesy of my fab friend Felecia who is now required to have this prepared EVERY TIME I come over. Mint Lemonade is simply made using lemonade sweetened as desired and adding fresh mint leaves. After your first sip say “Thanks Felecia!” Finally, I’m loving this cool tool I picked up recently from Dollar Tree called a long reach and pick up. If you are short like me this is a must have tool and considered one dollar that was well spent.

Long reach & pick up
Long reach & pick up

KDK, also known as Kevin or husband, has some great favorites to add as well. Daily he uses the SportsDay Talk App for his iPhone where he can stream, pause, and rewind live radio. He can also play past clips of the live radio when something is currently streaming that he doesn’t want to hear. On the way to work he also enjoys listening to Pastor Rickie G. Rush via our local gospel radio station. Kevin isn’t a daily coffee drinker but while at work does enjoy an occasional cup. To make it more flavorful he pours the coffee into a cup, adds cream, sugar, and then some cocoa powder to kick it up a notch. This chocolaty coffee creation goes great with his next favorite, my half baked dessert. For this I make homemade brownies and drop in homemade cookie dough then bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. And last but certainly not least he had to include Top Golf. He recently won a contest at work and his team was rewarded with a visit to this place. He had an awesome time and said the food is excellent! If there is a Top Golf in your area then definitely check it out.

Urban Decay’s Naked 3: Haul, Review, & Tutorial

Check out this FOTD via Chocolate Covered Strawberries link.

I know you all were wondering where the makeup portion of my blog was. Today it has arrived with a quick glimpse of my new palette, Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette. This Rose colored palette consists of beautiful shades that will compliment all complexions. If you are a fan of pink, mauve, rose, cream, and gold hues this is the palette for you. If not, avoid this palette at all costs. I purchased my palette via my recent haul.

I also created a cute eyeshadow look that I call Chocolate Covered Strawberries which also features the new Wet n Wild glitter eyeshadows.

I am definitely enjoying this palette; however, the color pay of this version is not comparable to the others. The shades are beautiful, even on women of color, but I did find that this palette required several applications for the colors to show completely. I’m not a fan of the packaging design either. Seriously, who decided to make the palette bumpy? Hello! It is a Rose hued palette so how about adding roses to the packaging rather than the waves. Overall, I rate Naked 3 a 8/10 due to the color pay off and funky packaging design.

I like to end all reviews on a positive note which isn’t hard for this palette. The looks you can create are endless and the colors can easily be turned into cheek highlights or blushes. I’ve also added a small amount of clear gloss to my lips and placed dust over it. Dust looks great on the lips and as a cheek highlight on women of color. Let record also reflect that the rose gold color in this palette, trick, is gorgeous!

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Special shout out to my great husband for encouraging me to be better, reach higher, work harder, and especially for his persistent pushing.

If my Comfort Zone were an actual place, I imagine that it would have mood lighting, plenty of plush of pillows, and a sectional couches with recliners. Why? Because I love seating options. In my Comfort Zone there would be soft music playing, a fire place, and a waiter serving my ginger peach tea with lemon 24/7. Did I mention the on demand masseuse?

Doesn’t my Comfort Zone sound like a relaxing establishment? So you can understand that when this challenge was suggested to me it made me COMPLETELY UNCOMFORTABLE. Nevertheless I’m glad I decided to do it. That’s why I’m so grateful for my husband. He truly knows what I need before I notice it.

I could give you a myriad of reasons as to why you should stay in your comfortable place but the truth is none of them matter. As a believer, I understand that when it is time to move then it is time to move. Even if you try your hardest to stay in your Comfort Zone, God is going to make it so uncomfortable that the thought of remaining there will be unbearable.

Tips and Reminders
1) Don’t be scared to leave the familiar for the unknown. Truth be told we can all sense “the shift” prior to that season starting. You can run the opposite direction if you desire but I prefer to go forward and strive towards the next level.
2) Don’t let your “first step fear” cause you to miss out on grand opportunities. I know how nervous I feel when I decide to take on a new task but I enjoy the feeling I have once I’ve exceeded my initial goal and expectations. I would never experience that success if I didn’t move from my Comfort Zone, in obedience to God, with confirmation through his word.
3) Complacency will halt your growth. Saw this picture via Encourage Me Rofasho’s Instagram and thought it was a #nuffsaid moment.

Is it scary to step out of and subsequently depart your Comfort Zone? Ummm YES! But I am excited to see what lies beyond my cozy and convenient corner. I’m not sure where life will take me but I know that in over 30 years God has never failed me. Look for clarification in his word. God is faithful and will fulfill every promise.

Great Things of 2014 – 1st Quarter

Can you believe the first quarter of the year is almost over?!?! Time is truly flying by but that must be because I’m enjoying every moment of life. Here are some great things that have happened to me during the first quarter of 2014.

First, as a family we’ve enjoyed getting to know our newest member. Our youngest is now 4 months and he is so much fun. We enjoy loving him and are still amazed about his surprise arrival.

Second, our homeschool made it through new baby boot camp and we are back to our normal schedule. I’m so appreciative of all the advice I received about how to teach with a newborn. The best advice was to enjoy the baby, which is what we did. Of course it was hard at first but things did get easier as time progressed. Now he even sits in the classroom with us.

Third, I enjoyed a fun night out with my friends. We attended a concert for one of my best friend’s birthdays. I enjoyed the event but I did call and check on my three kings constantly. Daddy survived his first time keeping two rather than one and told me to “stop calling and enjoy myself.” Check out my blonde hair and gold makeup.

Fun night with Friends

Fourth, my family has continued our commitment to fitness. We’ve been walking to the park several times a week, we play family basketball, race each other, do jumping jacks, etc. It feels great to enjoy the outdoors together. I also find that exercising together makes it more enjoyable for me.

Fifth, I decided to laugh more often. I saw this tweet from UberFacts
@UberFacts tweeted at 9:17pm – 14 Mar 14: Children laugh an average of 400 times a day, while adults laugh about 15 times a day. This saddened me and I made it my mission to truly LOL a lot more. If I find it funny I don’t giggle, I literally laugh out loud. This has made me feel great. I suggest you try it. My children will not out laugh me. Even typing that last sentence made me laugh.

There are so many great things that happened to me and my family during the first quarter of this year. In life it is easy to focus on the bad things for an extended time and briefly enjoy the good things. I’m not doing that anymore. Life is too short to skim over the great things.

For more great things check out my recent video.

Welcome to Marriage, Motherhood, and Makeup

As part of my first quarter goals for 2014 I decided to start a blog. Why? Initially I wasn’t truly sure because I enjoy my YouTube channel so much; however, recently I’ve felt a pulling to start a written form of All Things Me. My initial goal is to post twice monthly and the subjects will include all things pertaining to marriage, motherhood, and makeup of course. There will also be hair, nail, and homeschool posts as we started that journey this year.

I’m a 31 year old, fun, enthusiastic, friendly, and creative woman. My talents include anything I desire to learn. Most recently, I’ve perfected acrylic nail application and next I plan to learn how to play the guitar. I’m a wife of six years to my college sweetheart and we have two awesome children (6 years and 3 months) that look just like him. I’m a professional homemaker and taking care of my family is my ministry. I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and the ONLY way to the Father is through him.

As of right now you can check me out via Married2KDK All Things Me for biweekly videos. Eventually there will be a short post to coincide with my uploads and reviews. And, of course there will be some blog exclusive goodies.

So sit back, relax, and scan the posts while you enjoy your favorite warm or frosty beverage. Feel free to browse while you wash, dry, iron, and fold the laundry. You can even read while you take your fifteen minute break or that extra long lunch you definitely deserve for all your hard work. No matter how or when you decide to visit my little wordpress corner know that I appreciate it.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Be blessed and make this week AWESOME!

Ta’Neisha K.
