Grandfathers are GREAT!

Here recently, we went on two vacations which included visits to our grandfathers. Now that you’ve read the previous sentence, ask yourself these quick questions:
-When is the last time you visited your grandparents?
-What is the last time you visited your aunts or uncles?
-When is the last time you visited any of your older family members?

If you have to really think to remember these visits, then it is past time for you revisit those people and create some fresh memories.

There is nothing like spending time with those who are responsible for creating the awesome parents that created you. There is nothing like taking a trip down memory lane and learning some of the history that lies within your veins. There is nothing like watching eyes of all ages light up as older generations meet, hug, and love on younger generations. There is nothing like family.

During our visits I got to meet family on my husband’s side, that I’d never met before. I met aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins that I have enjoyed getting to know. I made some precious memories, tasted Aunt Barbara’s famous culinary creations, attended a birthday party, and pick some apples from my grandfather’s Apple tree. I learned the history of my husband’s grandfather and how he changed his life. I also enjoyed listening to my own grandfather tell me where he was when President Kennedy died. He also shared memories of my grandmother that I’d never heard before. While visiting, I made sure that I asked hard, life questions and I received truthful answers from both of them. I was so grateful that they were open, honest, and willing to share their lives with me.

Life is short. My grandfathers have lived on this earth for 80+ years but that is not a long time. No matter what older relatives you have left, MAKE THE TIME to spend time with them. MAKE THE TIME to spend with your family. Share the history with your children and take photographs of these precious memories.

Coral Completes Me

The title of this blog probably sounds a little bit silly; however, it is the truth. Coral is my happy color.

I love that it’s not too pink. I love that it’s not too orange. I just love that it’s coral. I love how this color compliments every woman. I especially love how this color brightens the myriad of complexions within every ethnicity. CORAL IS THE COOLEST COLOR!!

Coral truly brightens my day when I wear it on my lips, fingertips, or add it to my outfit of the day. If I’m not in the best mood I know I can add a pop of coral to pick me up. I even have coral workout clothes! Well since I’m a housewife, most of my wardrobe is workout clothes, but coral is noted within that collection. I seriously think I burn more calories when I work out in coral. Okay, as much as I’d like the end of that sentence to be true, it isn’t. But a little embellishment doesn’t delete my feelings that CORAL IS THE COOLEST COLOR!!

Coral is my happy color.

Coral completes me.

Mrs. & Mom: Somebody Needs Me

Just saw this awesome post and definitely had to share it. The last three sentences had me in tears.

As I am writing this entry I realized that I haven’t had a full night of rest all week due to a teething infant as well as a sick #1 and husband. My last uninterrupted shower was on Sunday and I might need to invest in a good eye cream.

I didn’t work this hard in the secular world!

Either way, I love my job as wife and mother. I find joy in every moment. I sneak in time for me here and there via my various hobbies. I’m even okay with the “so you’re just a housewife” comment said to my face and the “she just doesn’t want to work” said behind my back.

I’m grateful for the career of Mrs. & Mom!

I’m my own Nail Tech

So, it all started after I was given the nonreturnable gift of fungus from a nail salon. This happened not once, but twice! When I went to the nail shop with the SUPER WACKTASTIC GIFT OF FUNGUS I was blamed for it both times. The first incident the tech just filed away at the rotten acrylic and tried immediately infill it. The second time occurred soon thereafter and I decided not to return.

Now, of course this fungus tragedy might not be enough for you to quit nail salons all together, but for me it was. This occurred after I’d started to pay attention to the cleanliness of the salon. Don’t get me wrong, the salon was not particularly “dirty” and their practices were that of any other nail business I’d visited since I was 12. I just realized that I preferred a higher level of cleanliness.

If I see you frown up at the fungus on a person’s toes, HOW DARE YOU roll your chair to me and use the same files on my toes. Ladies, don’t act like you haven’t seen that happen.

What about the cuticle oil container? How many cuticles has this oil brushed touched? How many were bleeding? <– Don't act like you haven't been nicked by the hand file. And, what about that hand file? How many people have been nicked? How much blood is on it?

Oh, let's not forget the countless times I've been burned by the nail drill. Being burned by the nail drill refers to the warm/hot and stinging sensation you receive on your nail beds. You do know that you aren’t supposed to be burned by the nail drill, right.

Finally, I should mention how my natural nails would look like a train ran over them once the acrylic was removed. All those lines embedded and the ridges left from horrible filing with the electric drill. My natural nails were so thin and fragile and my nail beds were super sensitive. And most times I would remove the old acrylic and get a new set hours later. <–HORRIBLE DECISION It took a long time to nurse them back to health, but I did.

Now ladies, don’t leave me crazy comments about how I can’t say my horror stories are indicative of every nail salon. First, because I never said that, and second, because I am completely aware that not all nail techs/salons are the same. These are just a few of the incidents that made me choose to invest money into myself and learn a new talent.

My Husband is AWESOME!!!

I’m writing this blog today completely, relentlessly, passionately, and hopelessly in love. I know, can you believe it? I’ve been swept off my feet repeatedly, caressed sweetly, and had soft romantic phrases whispered in my ear. You know the phrases “I just paid the rent/mortgage,” “car note is taken car of,” and “I got off early so I could take you on a date” will do it for any wife. Oh and did I mention the new makeup he bought me? You all know I love opening new makeup. I also want to thank him for the spontaneous foot massages and back rubs he provides. YESSSSSSSSS!! I’m going to keep him.

Top that off with the way this man spends time with his children, wrestles with and reads to them, and takes them to the store so I can take a bath WITHOUT being interrupted!!!! Did I mention how he is a man that I want my sons to be like? Oh and I can’t forget the part about how he prays for us, teaches us the word of the Most High God, and works diligently in the kingdom. He is a bible based preacher that tells the truth, lives what he teaches, and is not a double minded. YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Seriously, I’m going to keep him.

He is my awesome husband, Kevin K., and I’m so glad to have him in my life. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him. I’m so glad that God prepared me for him. He makes me better. My husband is AWESOME!!

Now, don’t dare “get it twisted,” he has his faults. He leaves his laundry on the floor like most husbands and he leaves the toilet seat up like all men. Both are super serious offenses, punishable by an abundance of attitude and nagging. But even though my husband is an “average joe” he has potential in him that is changing the world. How? He changes the world by loving his wife as Christ loves the church. He changes the world’s future by raising Godly children that are comfortably in their creation role and know how to live a balanced life. That’s why my husband is AWESOME!!!

Wives, I implore you to take a moment to think about your husband and write down all the reasons he is awesome. No matter what stage or season your marriage is in there is a reason to be grateful. Whether you are in, coming out of, or headed into a life storm, there are many reasons why your husband is awesome. Be grateful that you have someone that you can share your life with. Be appreciative of the growth that you’ve seen in yourself and in your spouse throughout your marriage. God is faithful and he is able to do all the things that he promised in his word for our marriages. We trust him with our children so we should trust him with our spouses and ourselves. Only the power of our Sovereign God can create awesome husbands, wives, marriages, and families. My God is AWESOME!!!

To hear more about my excitement for holy matrimony and The Vow Challenge check out my latest video.

Remember your vows, reapply them, and make them guaranteed. God’s past faithfulness ensures that your future is secure. YOUR MARRIAGE IS VICTORIOUS.

And it is so, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Make this week triumphant,

We CONQUERED Kindergarten!

I’d like to start blog off by giving my family a super High-5 and Double Fist Pump for having an awesome homeschool year! Oh yeah! We did it!! We kicked Kinder’s butt!

For our curriculum this year we used My Father’s World and we supplemented with various workbooks, unit studies I created, and library items. We attended eight field trips, joined a great Christian homeschool group, and even hosted a Super Science class at our local recreation center. YES, you read correctly, we did all of that while welcoming a new, SURPRISE BABY into our family and adjusting our lives accordingly. We did that! We kicked Kinder’s butt!!

I’m truly enjoying our homeschool journey and watching my children grow academically and family grow closer through the process. God is so good! I’m grateful for my King, my husband that has allowed the opportunity to train our arrows. I’m also extremely appreciative for those that support our journey and encourage us. We give God all the praise for an awesome year and look forward to a fantastic first grade school year.

Homeschool was our choice and it is working well for us but no matter how your family decides to educate your children be sure to stay involved. Encourage your children daily, be present at the school often, and communicate with all staff involved in your child’s school day. I’m talking ALL STAFF! Say hello to the lunch lady and bus monitor, wave at the teacher’s aid, and hug the teacher. Make your presence known so every person knows your child’s education is important to you. Keep your arrows sharp.

If you’re interested in items I used during our Kindergarten year, details on My Father’s World, and a homeschool room tour, check out the videos below. Additional videos can be found via my youtube channel.

Make this week educational,

I Ain’t Afraid To Get Old! #CELEBRATION32

Another grand year of my life has officially passed, which is basically a fancy way to say IT IS MY BIRTHDAY Y’ALL! WHOOP WHOOP #CELEBRATION32

I’m so grateful to celebrate another year of life. I’m also not ashamed to say that I am now 32 YEARS OLD! WHOOP WHOOP #CELEBRATION32

I think it is disheartening when I talk to older women, even on their birthday, ask their age and they don’t respond or lie about it. What’s wrong with adding a year? We all realize it is just ONE YEAR that we are adding, right? However, some ladies act like they age in dog years. Mind you, these ladies are still in their thirties to mid forties and are ashamed. Seriously, it frustrates me.

I can’t help the fact that my parents got married and on a romantic night in 1981 they decided to stay inside rather than go out. I can’t help that months later, in 1982 I was born and have been here every since. All I know is I’m glad about it! In my mind the year 1982 doesn’t seem like a long time ago but it may be considered ancient times to the youth I teach. So what! I’m a proud EARLY 1980s baby and that is okay. WHOOP WHOOP #CELEBRATION32

I could go on about how you should celebrate life because it is short no matter how long you live, but I won’t. I could go on about how I’ve had classmates and known many children that never lived to be my age, but I won’t. I could also include points about how a young girl can see your joy in being insert awesome age here and realize she wants to be like you at that awesome age. I’m not going to say any of those aforementioned things; however, I will say EMBRACE YOUR insert awesome age here NO MATTER WHAT! WHOOP WHOOP #CELEBRATION32

Yes, life happens and it is not so good but I’m still here and I thank God for strengthening me to endure until the end. Yes, previous years have been rough but in the end my good, great, and awesome always outweigh the bad. Yes, I may not have achieved every goal I set but I’ve exceeded my expectations with every other awesome thing I did accomplish. Some may say “but I don’t want to get old because…” and I respond “I CAN’T WAIT!”

I refuse to hide behind a false age whether it be 32, 50, or 120 I’m going to embrace it and put it on a T-shirt. I’m going to sing. I’m going to dance. I will rejoice! God is faithful. God is worthy. God is greatly to be praised and even in 32 years here I haven’t thanked The Most High enough. I love him and if he says “daughter do my work for another year,” “enjoy your family for another year,” or “teach women how to live a balanced life and be good wives for another year,” I will do it. I will teach and make memories to the best of my ability. I will use all my potential while I’m living because I don’t want it decomposing in the graveyard when I die.

Long blog but I just had to get that out. To see some great gifts I received check out my first WHOOP WHOOP #CELEBRATION32 haul video.

Happy Reading: Wives of The Bible

Let me start with a disclaimer. If you are a wife that doesn’t desire to grow then this blog post is NOT for you. If you are a wife that is perfect and refuses to acknowledge that life CHRISTstyle requires a daily flesh death and consistent reminders via the word, then this blog post is NOT for you. However, if you are a wife that seeks The Lord daily for guidance and strength to endure until the end and desires to be a wife of the word not the world then you’ve come to the right review. Also if you love your husband first and truly delight in serving him because it honors Him then definitely keep reading for something awesome to add to your library.

With that being said here are my thoughts on Wives of The Bible by Jolene Engle

Wives let me just tell you I’ve had a great time with this book. This book has shown me who I was, currently am, and given me hope for what God is shaping me into. I am a wife that gets excited about operating in my creation role so to read a book that recognizes that and supports it is so refreshing. I’ve shared this book on all my social networks while reading it and so many women have told me how much they enjoy it.

I definitely desire to be a wife of the word and not the world so I can’t wait to discuss this book with other wives. The most AMAZING thing about this book is that I realized I’ve grown tremendously but I wasn’t discouraged when reminded that I have more growing to do. That’s what I got from this book. Every wife has an Eve moment, Lot’s wife moment, and even a crazy Job’s wife moment but eventually by God’s Grace we will grow into the Proverbs 31 Woman. Through our growth we will also become part of the most glorious, one time only, extravagant and holy wedding as the Bride of Christ.

I could go on and on but that’s what the video version is for. Check out my recent upload to hear my detailed thoughts on this book.

Check out Jolene Engle on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

Happy Reading!
